Additional perimeter tie/stake loops were added around the entire circumference for additional anchoring options and/or maximum wind resistance. Orange paracord lengths have been added around the perimeter. These perimeter cords allow the option to set up the shelter with some space around the bottom for ventilation, based on the weather conditions and personal preferences. Otherwise, you can just anchor the shelter directly to the ground with the stake loops. Additional panel ties were added for additional wind resistance and tie-out options. The standard model comes with 2 per side panel, this shelter has 3 on each side panel. Orange paracord and clamcleats have been added to the panel ties. These makes the shelter ready to set up immediately upon arrival and allow for easy paracord length adjustments. The rear beak on the standard model doesn’t normally reach the ground. I ordered this with an extended rear beak so that it will form a rear vestibule and reach the ground for outstanding wind and rain/snow protection in bad weather. 2 Mini Plastic Hooks/Mitten Hooks were also added with a loop of paracord at each end of the shelter interior. These can be used for conveniently hanging / removing something, such as a light, cord for clothesline, etc. 2 lengths of olive green paracord have also been added at each end, to mark the ideal width of the shelter stake locations when set up flush with the ground. These just make it faster/easier to set up by indicating exactly where the primary stakes go. Of course, you can use these cords to mark your own ideal width locations, or even remove the cord altogether to save weight, based on your personal preferences. The base canopy weight (without the vestibule, stuff sack, or any of the extra additions listed above like the paracord and clamcleats) is 18 oz. The grand total weight of this entire package, with all of the additions listed above plus the clip-in vestibule, and including the 0.5 oz. Stuff sack, weighs 28.6 oz. So, that’s well under 2 lbs. For a 2-person shelter! A final consideration regarding weight… As you can tell, I’ve added a lot of segments of paracord for versatility in set-up and tie-outs. If you wanted to shave some more ounces from an already ultralight shelter, you could easily remove some or all of these extra paracord lengths (they’re just attached with knots). Although it is technically listed as “used, ” it was literally only used once and is in like-new condition.
