Since its introduction in 2006, the Gatewood Cape has been carried over 100′s of thousands of trail miles. It’s been used to provide shelter from everything including high mountain snow-choked ridges to lush forest trails. It’s the ONLY Tarp / Rain Gear that provides complete 360-degree protection. Dual zipper pulls on the front of the Gatewood Cape allow you to regulate ventilation while still providing full protection. Plus, the open skirted design allows fresh air to enter the bottom. As a shelter, the Gatewood Cape provides significantly enhanced protection when compared to your typical poncho/tarp. Its sturdy pyramid design easily sheds rain or snow and wind simply flows around it. Any sudden change in wind direction in the middle of the night won’t leave you scrambling to re-orient your shelter or force you deeper into your bivy. Unlike a tarp, the Gatewood Cape is a shaped tarp and eliminates all exposed sides, leaving you safe and secure. With 35 square feet of coverage under the shelter’s canopy, you’ve got plenty of room for you and your gear. A long zipper on the vestibule makes opening and closing the shelter a snap. The Haven Tarp is a shaped tarp that is designed to provide the maximum amount of protection for a minimum weight. It’s dual pole design with 48 (122 cm) wide canopy provides a tremendous amount of headroom. The wide canopy creates nearly vertical sidewalls. This in turn translates to more usable space with the tarp and less chance of bruising up against the side walls. The center peak of the Haven is offset slightly toward the front of the tent. This raises the canopy off your face and sets the peak to the more natural position when sitting. The Haven Tarp can be setup using your hiking poles or our optional carbon fiber poles. Dual tabs on either side of the canopy allow the Haven Tarp to be hung from a line between two trees, eliminating the need for poles. The Haven Tarp is designed to be mated with the Haven NetTent. Together they form a luxurious sized double wall shelter at a mere 32 ounces. Most of the tarp / NetTent combos on the market today require the NetTent to be setup first, followed by the tarp. Typically the poles are inside of the NetTent, making them easy to bump into in the middle of the night. This kind of setup makes it impossible to keep your NetTent dry when setting up or taking down your shelter in the rain. The Haven Tarp / NetTent combo is designed so that the NetTent hangs from the tarp. This configuration allows the tarp to be setup first or taken down last under rainy conditions. Your NetTent will remain dry and safely secure in your pack. Please note that the Haven NetTent is not included with the Haven Tarp. The Deschutes Plus is a lean, mean, no frills, down and dirty shelter for ultralight hikers on the move. It packs so small and light it might literally get lost in your pack. Yet it is large enough for a comfortable nights rest without the claustrophobia of a small tarp. With its full 360 degree protection theres no need to carry an additional bivy. The Deschutes Plus No-See-Um skirt perimeter eliminates the need to carry a bug net to keep away those pesky mosquitoes. The skirts generous 18 inch width allows you flexibility in setting up the shelter at different heights. The Deschutes Plus’ zippered entry makes getting in and out a breeze. It sets up using a single trekking pole or optional 49 Carbon Fiber pole. This single pole pyramid design ensures that youll be safe and comfortable regardless of weather conditions.
