I bought this for snow camping from the late, great Canadian gear company Integral Designs. I never actually did any snow camping, so this is essentially new. I already Seamgrip-ed all the seams, so it’s a little better than new.. Integral Designs made a great tarp shelter called the Sil Shelter and this a larger version of that. Depending on how you configure it, it will accomodate 2-4 people. You can suspend the center from a rope above or with a pole. For the most headroom, it’s best to use a 7′ pole. Included is a Black Diamond Pole Link Converter, that allows you to lash 2 trekking poles together for extra headroom (poles not included). Depends on height of support pole, but the shelter is luxuriously roomy for two, adequate for three, and tight for four. 4 x 14, silnylon stuff sack provided. Color is Jade Green and material is Silicon impregnated nylon (sil nylon). It has a zipper door with a little vent at the top to help with condensation. It is designed specifically to cover a single person while also providing extra room for gear (it is possible to fit 2 people under the tarp if they are smaller people without gear and dont mind being cozy). Its shape makes it easy to get into and out of, and it can be pitched fairly high off of the ground for the full, airy tarp experience, or with its edges nearly, or even fully, on the ground for remarkably protective refuge from bad weather. In keeping with its minimalist mission, the Tarp 5 is made of Hillebergs very light yet strong Kerlon 1000 fabric (used in their 3-season Yellow Label tents) and comes with attached 2mm guy lines. Here is a link for more information about our tarp tents. A Baker Style San Juan 2 tarp/tent is a very quick setting up, lightweight, and airy tent that is very useful in many situations. Depending on the setup it can sleep anywhere from 1 to 3 campers. A pole or treking pole fits inside the corner webbings. No grommets to pull out or rust. The sleeping foot print averages about 5 feet by 8 feet covered area. The rear of the tent is support by Easton aluminum poles. The height of the front of the tent is about 50″ and the rear about 12″. It has a front extended beak that helps in weather protection, adds a covered eating area, and closes off the front opening for rain and privacy protection.
