BearPaw Designs Cuben Tarp 5 x10 feet. I only deployed it about 5 times. It can be a used in camp for protection from rain as a supplement to a tent or folded as a primary shelter. There are many possible tarp configurations explained in the internet. When used with a peak on long axis, it provides limited headroom, depending on how high the peak is and the angle of the sides. Material is 0.74 oz density. It is paper thin and needs special care and protection. It keeps out more water than Silnylon, which is heavier and can allow mist through fabric. Cuben does not work well as a shade tarp. I carried this in my pack for high country Colorado ski tours and mountain bike rides as an emergency shelter, but rarely had to use it. It looks new to me. Loops are sewn on edges: 5 evenly-spaced on long side, 3 evenly-spaced on short side. There are two loops in center fold of long axis of tarp, both 26 from short edge (Not shown in photos). Bear paw Wilderness Designs, Bear Den 2. Used a few times, but have since hurt my back and wont be backpacking anytime soon. Minor discoloring, but no holes. 6 titanium shepherds hook tent stakes. New England ropes spyderline guyline. Internal ridgeline for hanging and drying. This Bear Den tent is a 2 person models. The 2 person sleeps 2 people plus gear. The Bear Den can be lowered or raised depending on the weather conditions and ventilation needs. Both models use a two pole system to maximize the living space. Trekking poles or pre-made poles can be used. The peaks can also be hung from tree limbs. The 2 person tent and has an open front on the lower side for entering. Basically this standard model has the lower entrance as the open front for entering and the tall back panel closed as the rear of the tent. An optional clipped in beak to enclose the lower front opening is available for complete weather proteciton. Also an optional closable vent on the tall rear panel is available. The Bear Den 2 comes with a full net floor to keep bugs out. In damp or deluge conditions i used a polycro ground cloths, available cheap at any hardware store in the sliding door/window winterizing section. See dimension drawing in Additional Photo. Mountain Laurel Designs Cuben Fiber Scout Patrol Shelter, MLD Bug Bivy 2, and 8 titanium stakes. The tarp is made with a. 5 dyneema cuben fiber. It weighs a little under 6.5 ounces. 10 oz scale weight is with guylines (which can be replaced with lighter ones) and 8 titanium stakes. The Bug Bivy 2 has high sides that make it perfect for inclement weather conditions. The Bivy attaches to clips in the shelter. The Bivy weighs under 8 ounces. The tarp sets up with two trekking poles or you can use nearby branches or dedicated tent poles. It obviously looks better than the setup in photo 3 but I’m limited in my apartment. I’ve used the setup three times and both items are in excellent condition. I always used the Bivy with a polycryo groundsheet so it has been kept very clean. Please reach out with any questions!
