This multi purpose shelter was part of an US Airforce survival kit from an Air rescue unit stationed in California, dates to the early 1980′s, is made of very heavy Goretex, and can be used as a 4 season single person shelter, #1 vent side up with bug net in for hot weather, #2 vent side up without bug net for cool weather, #3 vent side down for cold weather, worn as a poncho, great coat, bivy sack, tarp, just a super versatile piece of equipment. #1- heavy duty Goretex multi purpose shelter. This is the ultimate choice in Ultralight backpacking shelters, and in my opinion far superion to a tent. It won the 2015 editor’s choice for shelters in Outdoorgearlab. This thing is bomb proof and a cinch to pitch super taut. I’ve used this tarp a handful of time and it was babied. It’s like new. Google some videos and read the reviews. You cannot go wrong with this tarp. 8’6″ x 8’6″. I’ve also got a TiGoat bugnet bivy which I highly recommend if you’re backpacking in an area with lots of critters. Spruce green Cuben fiber. Comes with stakes and carbon pole. (Does not come with the inner in first photo). The Ultamid 2 is few years old, before they changed logo, but is still in great condition. The Cuben is softer than new Cuben but there are no holes or tears. The zipper is clean and was treated with Gear Aid zipper lube. It has approx 20-25 nights of use. It comes with a set of 8 titanium V stakes from Zpacks. All 8 stakes weigh only 3oz. It also includes the pole I used. It’s made from a carbon trekking pole. I removed foam grip and tip and duct taped the ends to create a pole that extends to 70. Its sturdy and better than a sectioned pole that does not adjust. Used primarily for hiking the John Muir and Wonderland Trails. Has seen light use since then. Some very minor runs in the bug mesh. No bigger than a dime with one small hole (as pictured). Not bigger than a finger tip in diameter. Tarp and beak show some very light stains. Glued seems still in fantastic shape. Plenty more life left in this bomb proof super light 2 person shelter. Also included is hyperlite’s ultralite stake kit – minus one shepherd stake and two new burlier DC11 stuff sacks. With minimal practice this thing can be pitched super fast. The catenary cut ensuring a nice tight ridge line. Pictured with a Large NeoAir and Long Katabatic Gear Palisade Quilt for reference. Zipper Care applied before sale.
